Hi folks! I’m practicing with my Wacom tablet and actually using it solely, instead of reverting back to the mouse… causing a bit of sore-arms but I am drawing a lot more digistamps as a result 🙂 Here’s a quick doodle of a casual lady that I thought would be nice to share with you all. Great for mom cards or girlfriend themed cards, I think…enjoy!

Looking for a quick and easy Halloween party invite template that you can print at home? Download this cute skulls design notecards and start promoting your get together!

I thought it would be nice to have a host and hostess as part of the design, hence the two skulls, partners in life! And the blank lined area underneath lets you write in whatever details or text that applies to you.
Originally I thought of this as a party invite, but it can certainly be a journaling card, decoration in your planner or just something to print for the kids to color up and write about Halloween this year. Can actually be for All Saints Day as well with the skulls! Maybe you can decorate and draw over them with sugar skull designs? The sky is the limit.

Need to label your Halloween treats in a cute way? Download this free treats only printable!
The other day, I doodled up a little Halloween girl and wrote “Treats Only, please!” because I do like the treat part, not so much the trick part of this holiday. I remember being scared wayyyy too much in childhood, because our neighborhood had a thing for haunted houses and “trials” before you actually get a candy. Well, no more of that…I embrace just having treats!
After finishing up my art journal page of this illustration, I thought it would be really cute attached to the Halloween treats handed out…so here we have a new freebie printable! Pretty cute labels, no?

Happy hump day to all!
I’ve been busy designing on the computer, working on official stuff, scrapbooking kits and some personal projects as well.
After playing around here and there, I actually created these label strips for myself to use in a project. In the end, they didn’t fit with the particular booklet project, so they were sadly thrown to the side, to be forgotten…
I thought it would be better to share them as a free printable with all of you… so I hope you can use these label strips somehow. There are blank versions and the days of the week version as well. Enjoy!

It’s been a while since I’ve offered up a stationery set for download, so I thought it would be nice to have something in the Halloween or ghoulish theme for the upcoming holiday. I used my little sleepy ghost pattern to create this printable stationery set…sort of funky looking and not your normal cutesy design. The cool thing about printable stationery is that you can print as many pages as you need and really use it for lots of different things. A casual note stuck into a lunchbox, a long letter to a dear friend or just using the design for decoration around the house. This little guy is either sleepy or grumpy…maybe both!

Hope you enjoy this free printable and let me know if there’s anything in particular you are ever looking for. I’m always up for the challenge and like to do little design exercises and doodle away as a form of practice. The results always ends up being a freebie on my blogs. I’m all about sharing…if someone can use it and be happy! Until tomorrow…ciao ciao!

Wow! I found a huge resource for drawing and illustration and wanted to share with all of you as inspiration today! Andrew Loomis has out of print books that are now PDFs for free download. Amazing, true and so darn useful. You should definitely check them out and see if they will help with your illustration, whether you want to be a professional or drawing just for fun – it’s always good to learn and grow as a person. The “Fun With A Pencil” one was written first and it’s a pretty darn funny read in itself.

Andrew Loomis was an illustrator in the 1930s-50s and his work has influenced many artists even today. Since his books are still being circulated, you can be sure they are of value. Thanks to Escape From Illustration Island for posting about it and he has linked and credited the lovely people who make it all available. Thank you to all and thank you to the internet. I love how resources can be easily spread to people all over the world and we can share with each other. Happy Monday and enjoy!

Looking for some colored kraft texture love free digital scrapbooking papers? I’ve created a whole set to share with you today!

It seems that every time I design something, I learn something new. There never seems to be enough tips, tricks and shortcuts you can learn in programs like Photoshop and Illustrator. As I go deeper into the adventure of being a digital scrapbooking designer, I figure that perhaps I should also start from the basics. Sometimes I feel like I started in from the middle, since I already knew how to use the design programs. However, I’m still a beginner when it comes to digital scrapbooking!
I want to start from the beginning now and learn and grow with my designs. I’m thinking the results from my experimentations can be freebies here on my blog. Does that sound like a good idea? Do you love digital paper printables? Here’s a freebie post to usher in this weekend, which happens to also be my big birthday weekend! I’m getting older, but my husband and I have a big road trip planned, so I’m excited about that part…not so much about getting older though 😛

Hi folks! I’m exploring a handdrawn digital stamp style and have you seen all the girls from a previous post? Although I’m not a big fan of scanning and cleaning designs, I’m certainly in more control when sketching and drawing by hand.
I still have not gotten the hang of using the Wacom tablet so I can draw directly into Photoshop or Illustator. Still lots to learn…but I wanted to share two of my handdrawn characters with you and let you try them out and see what you think!
Introducing…Miss Mary and Mr Jason! Please let me know what you think and what you look for in designs and drawings. I would appreciate your input and will continue to sketch and create new characters as you read this. I still haven’t worked out the best process yet, but it’s sure fun to create characters and see them come alive, with their own personalities. They are my little ones!

Can’t wait to see – ciao ciao!

Babysitting my niece is always a joy and an adventure in crafting. She’s in that wonderful creative stage of seeing something and asking if we can try making it, straight away. Just like that, no thought of it being too hard or if we might not have the supplies.
Let’s just do it because it looks fun! I absolutely love the enthusiasm.
This time around we saw a segment on TV on how to make a moveable paper doll which can be very easy for kids. You’ll need some paper, a marker, some scissors, a hole puncher and those bracket thingies that I can’t seem to think of the word in English… fermacampioni in Italian.
This is the easy way to do it, without having to print anything out, but I will be coming to the template soon…

The coolest thing that I learned, is how simple it is to draw the parts of the body freehand. It’s all about proportions and in presenting to the kids, we were told to draw two eggs, then a head with neck the same size as the two eggs. Then 8 big sausages and 4 little sausages.
How funny is that? It made complete sense to my niece, so I guess sometimes you just have to put things in perspective for kids. Totally easy peasy.

I cut out all the pieces and at this point I had to help my niece out a bit for the smaller pieces. Depending on the age of your kids, you might have to help out!

Now you can see the doll coming together, even though we just had simple ovals shapes. You simply connect all the parts together by punching little holes and attaching with those bracket thingies. You don’t want to secure them too tightly though, otherwise the parts won’t move as easily.

When you put it all together, you’ve got yourself a little moveable doll. Pretty cool, huh? The bracket thingies I had on hand were really large, so you can see them sticking out all over… but it still works for positioning the doll.
I remember creating a template for dolls before, but this way is so much easier, completely freehand! [Note: I created a brand new printable doll template – check it out here]

I thought this was a really fun exercise to learn about proportions of the body and drawing the figure as well. You can use your doll as a tracing template, putting it on top of paper and creating a pose. Then just trace!
This is especially cool with kids because it’s easy for them to put the doll into different positions and trace for a variety of images to color up.

Wah-lah! Just like magic, huh? You can imagine the possibilities! It’s like a paper version of the dummy that you usually buy in art stores for drawing.

So the process of creating the doll was pretty fun in itself, but it’s cool to play with it afterwards, too. We found that if you throw or drop the doll on the table, you’ll end up with some pretty funky positions.
Just hold it up and let it fall on the table… you never know what position you might come up with! You might have to loosen the brackets a bit if your doll doesn’t move enough.
My niece was playing and having fun for a while and she came up with some cool dance move positions. After making this little version, I realized it would be even cooler if we went bigger! You can use some cardboard and make a larger doll to play with!
I hope you enjoyed this idea – enjoy!
